Ripul R. Panchal

DO, FACOS, FACS

Dr. Panchal is a board certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with expertise in management of spinal disorders. He served as Director of the Spine Fellowship Program and as Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at University of California, Davis School of Medicine for five years prior to moving to Texas to focus on his family life.

He has trained a number of post-graduate neurosurgeons and international spine fellows from China, India and Korea. His clinical experience at a Level 1 Trauma and academic institution has endowed him with extensive expertise in various spinal pathologies. His surgical specialties include minimally invasive, motion preservation and computer-assisted surgeries.

Dr. Panchal’s major research focus is spinal biomechanics, robotic spinal surgery, trauma and clinical outcomes. He has conducted and participated in a number of national and international clinical trials and research projects including spinal cord injury, Minimally Invasive surgery (MIS) techniques, innovative interbody spacers and corpectomy cages, image guidance and robotic surgery. He has been invited to present his work and lecture nationally and internationally on cutting-edge techniques.

He is actively involved in organizations such as the AO Spine, North American Spine Society, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and Scoliosis Research Society. He served as the Treasurer for the California Associations of Neurological Surgeons prior to moving to Texas. In his spare time, he has served as a volunteer neurosurgeon at UC Davis Aggies home games and staff physician at the 2012 U.S. Grand Prix MotoGP world championship motorcycle race. He also volunteered for a mission trip with Operation Straight Spine to Kolkata, India, a Scoliosis Research Society endorsed program.

He believes there is always more that can be done to help his patients. In addition to his extensive experience and training, Dr. Panchal serves his patients with dedication and an individualized approach as though they are his own family members.
